WTA Tokyo best bets including Shnaider vs Kalinskaya

The round of 16 of the WTA Tokyo tournament continues today and we have other best bets for you. Although some of our previously covered matches have not yet been played, we wanted to supplement them with the remaining matches available for selection. These are my best bets. Please share your thoughts in the comments section.
WTA Tokyo
Dire – Kenan: Shift: 03:00
Head to head: 0-0
Wakana Sonobe vs. Sofia Kenin kicks off our coverage. It’s two consecutive Japanese opponents for the American Sofia Kenin. Kenin had a solid match yesterday against Moyuka Uchijima, allowing him to win only four games in the entire match. Kenin dominated from the jump and never allowed his opponent to settle down and take advantage of the home crowd. Sonobe, on the other hand, had an absolute fight with the heavily favored Nikola Bartunkova. She won in straight sets, but Bartunkova made her work for it. As a reward, Sonobe will once again face a heavily favored opponent. Can she make it two in a row?
Best bet to make
Once again, the books roll with Kenin. I understand why and I agree. I think Sonobe was lucky to get out of the first round. I refuse to degrade her efforts by calling it “luck”, but I won’t refuse to say that she will need a little luck to continue her effort against Kenin. Taking Kenin straight will only get you around 130%, so I recommend taking her with a decent score of 2:0 for 1.84 on 1xBet. I would have suggested the under on 16.5, but that bet was scrapped. It’s essentially the same thing, just with a little more leeway.
That being said, Winning king is a value bet, that’s for sure.
Value bet/best odds: Winning king @1.84 @1xBet
Maybe – Lys: Time 05:00
Head to head: 1-0
Victoria Mboko vs. Eva Lys is another sneaky good match. In a matchup between two players from the World Top 50, this tournament presents a fantastic opportunity for both women to make some noise before the end of the year. Mboko has had a breathtaking year. She has already won six tournament titles in 2025. Eva Lys is having a good year herself, but she is a little short of tournament titles. The furthest she has reached in a tournament is the quarterfinals, and she has only reached three this year. Heading into this match, it feels like Lys has been a little more battle-tested in this tournament.
Best bet to make
The books have Lily as a favorite. Lys, on average, is the favorite by about 0.4 points. I agree with this. I think Mboko hits a wall towards the end of the year. She’s been playing a lot of tennis this year, and seeing her lose four matches in a row without even winning a set tells me that she really needs a break and a reset. Even though she faces some very tough opponents, she has also been able to hold on to them until recently. Take Lys, but take her directly. The value is there at 1.82 on Betfair.
That being said, Lily winning is certainly a worthy bet.

Shnaider–Kalinskaya: Time 06:30
Head to head: 0-0
Diana Shnaider takes on Anna Kalinskaya in our featured match. Both women are ranked in the Top 50 in the world rankings. Shnaider rolled up Dayana Yastremska in their match. It was 6-3, 6-1, and Shnaider looked much more comfortable than she did before. Shnaider really needed this win, and now she’s going to face an opponent who has been struggling like her for much of the year. Kalinskaya is 6-4 in her last ten matches, and that’s the furthest she’s ever gotten at WTA Tokyo. Shnaider reached the semi-final in 2024.
Best bet to make
The books make Shnaider win, but this time they have a little more confidence in her. It’s easy to see why when you look at Kalinskaya’s year. She’s 22-19 overall and just 13-12 on hard court. She hasn’t won a tournament since 2023. Kalinskaya has also been injured three times this year, although none kept her away for too long. Kalinskaya does have one last hard court appearance in 2025, but she returned in July at WTA Washington. While I have confidence in Shnaider, I think it would be wise to err on the side of caution. Take it straight or play something like games under 21.5 at Betway for 2.0 or even games under 22.5 for 1.8 at Bet365.
That being said, Schneider winning is a value bet, that’s for sure.
