President Donald Trump deploys 2,000 national guards in Los Angeles to cope with the troubles on raids on undocumented migrants.
Its TSAR border, Tom Homan, told Fox News on Saturday: “We are making Los Angeles safer.”
The Californian city saw a second day of trouble on Saturday while residents of a Latin predominance district clashed with federal immigration and customs agents (ICE). L schools gases and batons were used to disperse the crowds in the paramount district.
Friday, 118 arrests were carried out in Los Angeles following ice operations, including 44 Friday. California governor Gavin Newsom condemned raids as “cruel”.
A White House press release said: “In recent days, violent crowds have attacked ice agents and federal law enforcement agents carrying out basic deportation operations in Los Angeles, California.
“These operations are essential to interrupt and reverse the invasion of illegal criminals in the United States. As a result of this violence, the California without fictitious Democrats have completely abdicated their responsibility to protect their citizens. This is why President Trump signed a presidential memorandum deployment of 2,000 national guards to respond to the lightness that was authorized to fest.”
Speaking in Los Angeles, where he had traveled to personally supervise the continuous ice operations, Homan said: “We bring more resources while we are talking. We are going to bring the National Guard this evening. We will continue to do our job.”
He warned that there would be a “zero tolerance” of any violence or damage to private property.
In an article on X, the deputy director of the FBI, Dan Bongino, also issued a warning to the demonstrators: “You bring chaos, and we will handcuff them. The law and the order will prevail.”
He said that “several arrests” had been made to “obstruct operations”.
On Friday, in a statement, Governor Newsom said: “The continuation of chaotic federal sweeping, through California, to meet an arbitrary arrest quota is as reckless as cruel.
“Donald Trump’s chaos erodes confidence, tears families and undermines workers and industries that feed the economy of America.”
The mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, accused the ice of “sowing terror” in the second largest American city.
The FBI and the heads of internal security said that the mayor’s comments endangered the federal agents.
Angelica Salas, who directs the coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights, told a recent gathering: “Our community is attacked and is terrorized. They are workers. They are fathers. They are mothers. And that must stop.”
The American president has the power to deploy the national guard for certain purposes, including the “rebellion of rebellion”.
But by responding on Saturday, the governor of California said that the federal government’s decision to “take control of the California National Guard and deploy 2,000 soldiers” was “deliberately inflammatory” and would only “degenerate tensions”.
“The Los Angeles authorities are able to access the police at any time,” added Newsom.
Trump hit the governor on his social platform of truth, saying that if Bass and he could not do their job, “then the federal government will intervene and solve the problem, riots and looters, the way it should be resolved !!!”
