The huge explosion occurred on the SpaceX launch site in Brownsville, Texas, where Starship 36 had suffered its second static routine fire test. These tests are tests of the launching system of a vehicle, feeding it and briefly drawing its engines without disengaging the launch support.

Unfortunately, this special test session did not go as planned, with the Starship 36, fortunately unmanned, a late fire shortly after 11:00 p.m. local time (9:00 p.m. Friday, 12:00 HA). No injury has yet been reported and local police said that an investigation was underway to determine the cause of the explosion.

The explosion and the consequences were carried out live by Nasaspaceflight (occurring about an hour and 56 minutes), with the catastrophic failure of the Starship turning the whole white screen.

“So, about these launch dates, I think it can delay [them] A bit, “the commentator live from Nasaspaceflight, Sawyer Rosenstein, noted a few seconds after the explosion.

Starship 36 was to be used during the tenth SPACEX sport flight, although a date has not yet been set for the launch. Given Wednesday’s events, it would not be surprising that SpaceX now chooses to postpone his plans.

The official SpaceX X account also recognized the incident, reiterating that no one seems to have been injured.

“On Wednesday, June 18, around 11 p.m. CT, the starship preparing for the tenth flight test experienced a major anomaly when he was on a Starbase stand,” SpaceX wrote. “A clear safety area around the site has been maintained throughout the operation and all the staff are safe and taken into account.

“Our Starbase team is actively working on the security of the test site and immediate surroundings in collaboration with local officials. There is no danger for residents of the surrounding communities, and we ask individuals that individuals do not try to approach the area while the security operations continue.”

The loss of Starship 36 is probably an unwanted backhand for SpaceX. The company’s ninth test of the company’s starship test previously ended with an unexpected explosion last month and was its third flight of this type to explode. Although each failure is always a chance to learn, they are undoubtedly extremely expensive lessons.
