Wales ‘love playing against the best teams’, says Bellamy after Belgium defeat

Wales manager Craig Bellamy says he is relishing the challenge of facing Europe’s biggest teams after Belgium beat his side 4-2 in a World Cup qualifier in Cardiff.
Wales were leading through Joe Rodon’s header when Ethan Ampadu was punished for handling Charles De Ketelaere’s shot in the 17th minute.
Kevin De Bruyne equalized and Thomas Meunier, De Bruyne with a second penalty โ after an obvious Jordan James handball โ and Leandro Trossard added further Belgian goals, with Nathan Broadhead scoring Wales’ second goal.
Wales are now four points behind Belgium in the group and look set to qualify for the play-offs.
โWe wanted first place because we got straight there,โ Bellamy said.
โBut I also know where we are and what the Nations League (which won its group last year) has given us.
โThere is another opportunity to be able to participate in this major tournament.
“Honestly, I love playing against these top teams. It’s so good, because sometimes you have your heart in your mouth and you really live on the edge.
“I saw a lot of things today and I feel like we can get close. We obviously said to keep improving and tweaking.”
