The personality of Youtube, born in Russia, Vitaly Zdorovetskiy, known for her provocative and often offensive farce videos, was transferred to a high security installation in Muttinlupa in the Manila metro while the judicial procedures against him continue to the Philippines.
Zdorovetskiy, who holds Russian-Russian-American citizenship, has already been detained at the Bureau of Immigration (BI) detention center in Bicutain. Face several legal challenges
Bi has confirmed that Zdorovetskiy is faced with several local accusations and is not expelled as long as the Philippin judicial process has followed its course. Immigration commissioner Joel Anthony Via stressed that the transfer of YouTuber to BJMP police custody marks a transition from administrative detention to a safer detention agreement due to the gravity of his alleged offenses.
“M. Zdorovetskiy will remain under the care of BJMP pending the outcome of his legal affairs. It is only after those who will be resolved that he will be returned to the office for the expulsion procedure, “said Viah in a press release.
The Vlogger, whose videos were criticized for their unpleasant and disruptive nature, was arrested in April following reports of violations of immigration law and disruptive behavior during his stay in the Philippines.
No deposit, no exceptions
Zdorovetskiy had previously made a request for temporary liberation on bail, claiming that he did not intend to flee and that he was willing to stay in the Manila metro pending the resolution of his expulsion case. In an official letter submitted to the office, he even undertook to voluntarily appear to the BI Si authorities and when an expulsion order has been made.
Despite these insurances, the office rejected its appeal.
“It is not simply an administrative concern – it is a question of maintaining the integrity of our immigration system,” noted Commissioner Viao. “We cannot allow the expulsion procedure to be delayed or derailed by public figures using their platform for sympathy or manipulation. Our laws also apply to everyone, and Mr. Zdorovetskiy will not receive any special treatment.
BI has reiterated its position according to which foreign nationals who violate local laws, in particular those whose actions threaten peace or public security, must be held responsible under the Philippine law.
Pranks and public order
The arrest of Zdorovetskiy sparked a generalized discussion online, many Philippins criticizing the style of content creation of YouTuber, which often guarantees the line between comedy and public nuisances. His arrest in April occurred in the middle of increasing complaints concerning his conduct in the country, in particular his use of staging pranks that some deemed offensive or painful.
The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and BI have adopted a firm approach to the so-called “unwanted foreigners”, with Viaon strengthening the message that the Philippines will not tolerate the behavior that undermines public order or lack of respect for local customs.
“Hospitality should not be confused with leniency,” said Viaard. “Foreign nationals are welcome in the Philippines, but they should obey our laws and respect our communities. Those who choose otherwise must face the appropriate legal consequences.
Awaiting deportation
Once the judicial cases has been resolved, Zdorovetskiy should be expelled as an “unwanted foreigner”. However, disturb the United States and Russia, where the Youtuber holds the two passports, refuses to recognize and deport it. Until then, it remains under maximum security in Muntinlupa.
It is still not known how long the legal proceedings will take, but the Philippine authorities are convinced that a regular procedure will be observed. Currently, Zdorovetskiy remains in detention without deposit granted and no confirmed calendar for the expulsion.
If he is found guilty, he can incur a maximum of 24 years in prison.
