Dominic Fike admits that he was “Beyond Fucked Up” for his first Euphoria hearing.
The musician and actor explained how he finally won the role of Elliot in season two of the HBO series winner of an Emmy in a recent interview on Dax Shepard’s’s’s’s Expert armchair podcast.
Fike recalled that one of the casting agents of the show stretched out his team after seeing a video to interpret him “bags” by Clairo for the series “Like a version” by Triple J. “I did not know what Euphoria was, “he said.” I didn’t know it was this big television show. I don’t know who [director] Sam Levinson is. I don’t even know Barbie [Ferreira] or Zendaya or one of the girls.
The singer of “3 nights” remembered a short time before his hearing: “I read on an actor who did his damn thing or something like that, maybe it was a week before. So I was standing all night with this girl drinking whiskey, taking diapers. I was on the hearing, or I’m just laughing.
After taking hearing 30 minutes late, Fike said he “also threw shit” in the room and teased Euphoria Creator Sam Levinson for his outfit.
“They are like:” Can you do that? ” And I said to myself, “I don’t know, probably,” said Fike. “We started reading it, but the words started to jump on the page. I said to myself: “I can’t do this script”. And they were like, “Dom, will just rest.” And they were so angry with me.
After a while, Fike said that he “lived in a different way at that time” because he “tried to relax” and improve. It was at this time that the show of the show withdrew him for hearing again about a year later.
“Sam had rewritten this character I had shown to read, but he wrote it with the qualities of the guy he saw himself,” he said. “He writes this guy who is like half of his character and half of the guy who came upon that day. And then I was honest with him. He has a meeting with me. He said to me, “Ok, I know you’ve screwed up, of course. You have problems. I also have these problems. We can get someone to help you, but you have to do this. You sign a five -year contract. It’s just a formality.
Fike remembers that Levinson had said to him: “” I need to know that you would not fuck me on this. “I said to myself:” Brother, I got you. Right now, I don’t understand the issues, again, of this show. But once he arrived on the set of season two, he added that “you discover very quickly when you see this budget.”
His character Elliot becomes friends close to the rue des Jules and Zendaya de Hunter Schafer in season two, initially binding with them during their difficulties shared with drug addiction.
Fike has already been opened on his personal difficulties with drug addiction and how it took place during his shooting EuphoriaBy saying, “I know you know that I was launched the show.”
“I mean that I was drug addict and that I am very difficult to come on a program on drugs,” he told Zane Lowe from Apple Music in 2023. “Sam, the director and writer, he had a sober coach, someone to be there, you know all the time.
Fike should also resume his role in Euphoria Season three, which should be released in the spring of 2026.
