15 Most Powerful Versions of Hulk in Marvel History, Ranked

Hulk is one of the most powerful characters in the MCU, but there are several versions of the character in Marvel Comics that have yet to be seen on screen. Some even possess more power than others, with The Immortal Hulk arguably ranking among the most powerful beings in the entire Marvel Universe. Since its beginnings in 1962 The Incredible Hulk #1, these are the variants that turn out to be the most powerful version of Hulk in history.

Gray Hulk
The Incredible Hulk #1 by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Paul Reinman, Artie Simek
Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby during their historic creation period in the early days of the Marvel Universe, the first Hulk possessed superhuman strength but was neither very fast nor agile. He also lost all of Bruce Banner’s gray matter during his transformation, making him a mindless brute easily manipulated by villains like Loki.
The dichotomy between Banner’s intellect and Hulk’s brawn dominated the character’s evolution going forward, and much stronger Hulk forms incorporated both brains and brawn.

Ultimate Hulk
Ultimate Marvel Team #2 by Brian Michael Bendis, Phil Hester, Ande Parks, Wes Abbott
The Ultimate Hulk tore the adamantium-clad Wolverine in two, easily cementing his status as one of the most powerful Hulks in comics. Despite this, the Earth-1610 Hulk achieves much lower power and abilities than his Earth-616 counterpart. He lost major battles against Hercules and Thor, two main characters in the Marvel Universe that Hulk fought to a standstill.
This Hulk also came under the influence of Kang, one of the most powerful Kang The Conqueror variants in the comics, who used him to collect the Infinity Stones for her.

The Incredible Hulk
The Incredible Hulk #1 by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Paul Reinman, Artie Simek
The Hulk’s color changed in the second issue of the series in 1962 because the colorist, Stan Goldberg, had difficulty achieving the gray color given the limitations of the era. However, differences exist between the gray and green versions. The Incredible Hulk generally packs more punch than his gray predecessor, and is also much more agile and can jump enormous distances.
The Green Hulk proved his incalculable strength early on when he fought Hercules to a stalemate. Comic book fans know that Hercules possesses godlike strength, but it wasn’t enough to defeat the Hulk during their first encounter in Tales to amaze #79.

Infernal Hulk
Deadpool Annual #1 by John Layman, Juan Doe, FAOS D’auria and Clayton Cowles
Many people consider Hulk to be a monster, but Hulk of Earth-11638 was a true demon. After Bruce Banner became the Sorcerer Supreme, he used his incredible magic to tear the Hulk’s personality from his mind and banish the Hulk to Hell. Unfortunately, the Hulk only grew stronger in the fires of Hell and transformed into a demon. The Hulk wanted nothing more than to get revenge on Bruce Banner for hunting him, and after years of banishment to Hell, he was finally able to escape and return to Earth as the Infernal Hulk.
The Infernal Hulk was massively powerful and went on a rampage while trying to locate Bruce Banner. Eventually, Infernal Hulk was stopped by trapping him in another version of Bruce Banner and then snapping that Banner’s neck before Infernal Hulk could take over.

Hulk 2099
2099 Unlimited #1 by Evan Skolnick, Chris Wozniak, Chris Ivy, Marie Severin and Steve Dutro
Hulk 2099 possesses the general strength, stamina, and endurance of the regular Hulk, with additional physical attributes like razor-sharp claws capable of cutting through solid steel and a long tongue. He also retained his intelligence and could transform at will from the Hulk to his human alter ego John Eisenhart.
Hulk 2099 in some ways shared more in common with She-Hulk than its 21st century namesake, being a lawyer practicing law in a dark, dystopian future.
10
She-Hulk
Wild Hulk #1 by Stan Lee, John Buscema, Chic Stone and Joe Rosen
Jennifer Walters received a blood transfusion from Bruce Banner, giving her most of her powers. Unlike him, she retains her intellect in Hulk form and her super strength in her human form, giving her a slight advantage in power potential. Since her power comes from the way she gets angry, like him, the limits of her strength and endurance remain largely unknown.
Hulk has proven himself to be stronger than She-Hulk at times, especially during World War Hulkbut both have since progressed considerably, leaving the issue open for debate in comics and Disney+. She-Hulk: lawyer series.
9
Spider-Hulk
Spider-Man web #70 by Gerry Conway, David Michelinie, Alex Saviuk, Keith Williams, Bob Sharen and Rick Parker
Multiple Spider-Hulks exist in the Marvel Multiverse in the comics, but they all share one powerful quality. Spider-Hulk combines the unimaginable strength of the Hulk with the superlative reflexes and agility of Spider-Man. Armed with Spider-Sense, this Hulk anticipates threats before they happen, making him even more powerful than before.
A Spider-Hulk will likely appear in the MCU as The Multiverse Saga progresses and could draw inspiration from any version, including the original that first appeared in Spider-Man web #70 in the 1990s.
8
Weapon H
Totally Awesome Hulk #21 by Greg Pak, Robert Gill, Nolan Woodard and Cory Petit
Weapon H is not only one of the most dangerous Hulk variants, he is one of the most dangerous characters in the Marvel Universe. Born from a program designed to create the ultimate mutant killer, Weapon H is the perfect fusion of Hulk and Wolverine. Naturally, by merging two of Marvel’s most dangerous characters, the result was a being with unparalleled pure destructive power.
Weapon H has the Hulk’s absurd strength and durability, which is also amplified by Wolverine’s healing factor and adamantium claws. But his powers don’t stop there. Weapon H can also shapeshift between different Hulk forms, such as Red Hulk and even the Leader. This allows Weapon H to grow wings or even gain psionic abilities for a short time. This makes him the most versatile Hulk on this list.

THE
Avengers and X-Men: AX #4 by Rick Remender, Leinil Francis Yu, Gerry Alanguilan, Edgar Delgado and Chris Eliopoulos
The Gray Hulk reappeared in the form of Kluh, an extremely powerful version of the character the Hulk had long repressed in his psyche. All anger and raw power, Kluh defeated one of the strongest Avengers teams of all time during the AXIS comic book event in 2014.
Kluh could also regenerate – which would become essential in later versions – and use telekinesis. He has been shown to be immune to telepathic attacks and, like some other Hulks in the comics, perceives astral forms. This allows him to see the Doctor Strange characters even when no one else can.

Green scar
The Incredible Hulk I
Hulk used the alias Green Scar while living and fighting as a gladiator on the planet Sakaar. He became one of the strongest Hulks during his time on the alien world, where his strength and power increased alongside his fighting prowess in the arena.
Green Scar eventually fought his way to the throne of Sakaar, defeating many powerful alien beings along the way. He appeared in the iconic Planet Hulk storyline, which later inspired certain aspects of Thor: Ragnarok.
