Vincent Lindonm Tahar Rahim Revealed In Fred Cavayé’s ‘Les Miserables’

EXCLUSIVE: Vincent Lindon and Tahar Rahim will be on the big screen next year in Fred Cavayé’s action-packed adaptation of Les Miserables and Deadline can reveal the first look.
Lindon plays Jean Valjean, the hero of Victor Hugo’s classic 1862 novel who transforms from hardened ex-convict and parole breaker to benevolent industrialist. Rahim (Madame Web, Mr Aznavour) plays his sworn enemy, Inspector Javert, who becomes obsessed with the idea of finding him.
Scheduled to be released in French theaters on December 9, 2026, the film is one of the ambitious adaptations released in France in most years.
Benjamin Lavernhe, recently seen in the French tube The fanfareAnd Call my agent! star Camille Cottin, also feature in the cast as evil innkeepers Thénardier and Madame Thénardier. Noémie Merlant (Tar) embodies the tragic figure of Fantine.
The story follows Valjean after he emerges from 19 years in prison for stealing a loaf of bread and seeks redemption by reinventing himself as a respected dignitary under a new identity. He promises Fantine, a dying worker, to save and protect her daughter Cosette, who is exploited and mistreated by the deceitful Thénardier family.
As Valjean raises Cosette as his own, he is relentlessly pursued by Inspector Javert. In the midst of the social unrest shaking France, the destinies of Valjean, Cosette, her lover Marius and Javert intertwine in a turbulent and revolutionary Paris. Through struggle, sacrifice, and a deep desire for justice, Valjean strives to complete his journey of redemption and offer Cosette a future of love and freedom.
The feature film is produced by Richard Grandpierre at Eskwad Productions (The Tuché family franchise, Big Bug, Brotherhood of the Wolf) and Olivier Delbosc at Curiosa Films (The quiet son, Blood and money), in co-production with Studiocanal, TF1 Films Production, Canal+ and Netflix.
