According to an arrest report, officers working off-duty at the arena responded to Section 311 around 10:15 p.m. after receiving reports that several people were refusing to comply with arena rules.

Police said the suspect, Marcus Antwon Reed, made “unwanted physical contact” with a police officer before resisting efforts to remove him from the seating area.

As officers attempted to arrest him, Reed allegedly grabbed a nearby handrail and refused to let go, according to the report.

An MPD sergeant then asked a responding officer to deploy a Taser, which struck Reed twice in the chest but was ineffective, the report states.

Surveillance video obtained by Local 10 News shows the officers and Reed falling about 15 rows in the seating area during the struggle. Additional units arrived and were able to handcuff Reed, police said.

Authorities told investigators the officer punched Reed twice in the ribs and pulled his hair in an attempt to comply before officers escorted him out of the section.

Police said Reed continued to resist as he was removed from the arena.

Miami firefighters evaluated Reed at the scene before transporting him to Jackson Memorial Hospital for medical evaluation.

Jail records show he faces two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer and four counts of violently resisting an officer.

As of Tuesday, Reed was being held on $7,500 bail at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

No serious injuries to officers or other spectators were reported.
