Vice-president of BCCI, Rajeev Shukla, broke the silence on Bengaluru Stampede during the IPL 2025 victory celebrations of RCB RCB

In the wake of the heartbreaking log which occurred outside the Mr. Chinnaswamy stadium on June 4, during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Victory celebrations, vice-president of the BCCIt rajeev shukla has issued a measured but emotional appeal for unity, responsibility and rapid action.

Unhappy incident at the IPL 2025 event from RCB to Bengaluru

The tragic incident, which transformed a historic celebration into national calamity, would have cost the lives of at least 11 lives and would have left several wounded while uncontrolled crowds had jumped outside the doors of the stadium. The incident took place just a day after RCB won his very first IPL IPL, swinging Punjab Kings By six points in a biting final in Ahmedabad. While the team returned to Bengaluru in an chartered flight to celebrate with their fans, the atmosphere through the city was jubilant. The day began with an official congratulating ceremony in Vidhana Soudha, where the chief minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, and the deputy CM DK Shivakumar honored the players with Mysore Peta and Garlands of Cardamom – a tribute rooted in the local tradition.

However, at the end of the afternoon, the scenes around the Chinnaswamy stadium began to become uncontrollable. With free entry passes distributed and social media overflowing with buzz, an unmanageable crowd of tens of thousands of people began to converge outside the stadium well before the arrival of the RCB team. Despite the authorities canceling an anterior open roof bus parade to prevent such a disaster, a stampede has always broken out outside the stadium doors, a scenario that no one was fully planning.

Rajeev Shukla reacts to the unfortunate Stampede

Addressing Ani, Shukla has recognized the proactive measures taken by the government of Karnataka to avoid such chaos, including the cancellation of the roadshow. However, he admitted that the ladder and density of the crowd outside the stadium had not been planned.

“The government has arrested the roadshow to avoid the jostling or such a situation. But it was not planned that a stampede would occur outside the stadium. Everyone should work together on damage control “,” Shukla said.

Rajeev’s remarks have brought a tone of emergency and collective responsibility, calling for all stakeholders, the BCCI, the government government, RCB officials and law enforcement agencies, to meet to assess what was wrong and to guarantee that these tragedies are never repeated. Rajeev Shukla sought to depoliticize the situation in his follow -up comments, declaring:

“This can happen in any state and the ruling party should not be blamed. If this happens in a state of BJP, we should not blame them. The crowd was huge. I spoke to the franchise, and they did not think that such a massive crowd would come together. This incident suddenly occurred,” Shukla concluded.
