Verse in dirt

There are recipes that instantly bring me back to childhood, and worms in dirt are part of it! I mean, what should not love in these little cups of chocolate pudding, crushed cookies and gumwing worms?! They are simply fun! This super simple recipe adapted to children in the ground is the Halloween dessert, a celebration of the Earth Day or a birthday feast! Even adults love it as much as kids. 😉
Earth pudding recipe
What I like most about this dirt glasses recipe is that I go for a simple homemade chocolate pudding on the type purchased in store. It makes it a little less transformed and a little healthier for children (and it’s really easy to do!) Pudding is still as creamy, chocolate and delicious as the version with which I grew up.
Gather your little help, crush cookies and have fun doing this treat. It is one of these dessert recipes that concerns memories as well as on flavor!
Success advice and successful suggestions
- Slowly mix the milk in the dry ingredients until they are carefully combined without lumps. This will help the mud layer in your ground pudding cups.
- Let your homemade chocolate pudding cool and adjust completely before adding your sandwich and gumworms. You can do the pudding layer up to 2 days in advance and keep it cooled until you are ready to assemble.
- Have fun with the presentation! I generally serve these pudding cups in transparent plastic cups or small glass jars so that the “dirt” layers are manifested. You can also superimpose this pudding in earth in the cups without food, then place them inside small flower pots (perfect for the holidays!)
- Add a gum or two between the pudding and cookies for a little surprise!
- The worms in dirt work very well as individual pudding cups, But you can totally make a party tray and assemble a large “earth cake” in a trifle dish or a 9 × 9 “pan.
- Turn off the candies according to the season. Opt for chocolate mini-eggs and rabbit-shaped marshmallows for Easter, add more verses and candy pumpkins for Halloween, or opt for gumper flowers for spring or summer!

How to make worms in photos of dirt step by step

Gather all your ingredients.

Put podding: Add ½ cup of sugar, ¼ cup of non -sweet cocoa powder, ¼ cup of cornstarch and ¼ teaspoon of salt to a medium pan. Mix to combine dry ingredients.

Now, slowly mix 3 cups of whole milk a little at a time until they are smooth without lumps. Place the pan over medium heat and stir constantly. Cook the chocolate pudding for 8 to 10 minutes, until it boils and thickens visibly.

Let the Pudding simmer for 1 to 2 more minutes to fully activate the cornstarch and create a silky texture. He must coat the back of a spoon (as shown here) once completely thickened.

Remove the fire pudding and incorporate 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Let the pudding cool: Now pour the pudding into a large bowl (or directly in your service cups in case of heat safety). Add a layer of plastic envelope on the surface of the pudding to prevent it from developing skin and cooling for 1 hour, or until cooling and adjusted.

Crush cookies: Meanwhile, mash 12 chocolate sandwich cookies directly in the original sleeve or a ziplock bag until you are collapsed to your taste.

Make the pudding cups with earthworm: To assemble, start by spoon a layer of pudding cooled in your service cup …

… Then garnish with a pinch of crushed cookies. Add another layer of pudding to the top of the “dirty” layer and finish with another layer of crushed cookies.

Finish with gumwers so that they seem to crawl out of “dirt”. Serve and enjoy!

Storage and perform instructions in advance
You can make homemade chocolate pudding up to 2 days in advance. Keep it in the refrigerator, covered with a plastic film, until you are ready to use it. You can also crush the cookies and keep them in an airtight container at room temperature. Assemble the verses in dirt just before serving so that the crumbs remain crunchy.
If you have cups of dirt after assembly, they can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 2 days (covers without tightening in plastic film). They will stay up to 2 days, but the layer of cookies will soften over time.
