Valtteri Bottas aligned himself for a potential return of F1 bombs in 2025 as a replacement of 22 years: report

According to the statements, the reserve driver Mercedes Valtteri Bottas has become a possible leading candidate to replace Franco Colapinto in Alpine in the 2025 season. The young Argentine driver made his debut for the French team in Imola earlier in the season when he replaced Jack Doohan at mid-season at Enstone-based outfit.

In the midst of massive expectations and pressure from the interior and outside of the team, Colapinto failed to offer performance similar to his short stay with Williams F1, which initially provided him with a seat in Alpine.

Although it was previously considered only five races, it has been confirmed that Colapinto was currently leading on a race for racing. As indicated by The raceAlpine Executive Advisor Flavio Briatore agreed on the potential availability of Valtteri Bottas for a possible return during the 2025 season.

Bottas joined the German team at the start of the year after failing to obtain a new contract with any team on the grid. Although many thought that the driver was in the running for a full -time race headquarters with the Cadillac F1 team during the 2026 season, an early return to the grid could help him have options for his future in sport.

However, rumors have not yet been confirmed by one or other of the parties involved, Franco Colapinto continuing to run for the Silverstone team next weekend.

The former driver of Kick Sauber Valtteri Bottas confirmed that his management team was in contact with Alpine about a possible journey, because he thought that the French team could use a pair of experienced hands.

While appearing on The podcast beyond the gridThe winner of the F1 race 10 times said:

“I think there have probably been discussions. I was not really involved, but I have a steering team that is still in the background seeing what exists. They have a Mercedes power unit for the future, which, I think, is a good call. They are on their second pilot this year and I think the following races show how it goes.

“Once again, I think that on a street street, let’s say, the experience can always help. I talked earlier last year to a lot of teams because I naturally went at the end of my contract, but I never really jumped 100%, again because I was always convinced that I will be part of the Audi project, which obviously did not happen.”

Valtteri Bottas was also linked to Alpine last year to replace the outgoing Esteban Esteban, but the move has never materialized. The Finn reiterated that July would be a crucial month for him in terms of securing his seat for 2026.
