Valentin Paret-Peintre Wins Tour de France Stage 16

French Valentin Paret-Peintre prevented Ben Healy from Ireland to win his first victory on the stage of the Tour de France Tuesday in Mont Ventoux.

Paret-Peintre crossed the line just in front of Healy at stadium 16, a mountainous trek of 171.5 kilometers that started in Montpellier. Santiago Buitrago in Colombia finished third.

Tadej Pogacar in Slovenia finished 43 seconds behind Paret-Pintre in fifth place to maintain the yellow jersey of the race chief.

Pogacar, the triple race and title champion, now leads Jonas Vingegaard in Denmark for four minutes and 15 seconds. The Lipowitz Florian of Germany is third place, more than nine minutes from the pace.

Stage 17 Wednesday is a flat stroll 160.4 kilometers from Bollene to Valence. The 21 -step competition ends in Paris on Sunday.
