Utah defensive end John Henry Daley is considering entering the NCAA transfer portal, he announced Tuesday morning on X.
“I would like to thank my teammates, coaches and Ute Nation for their incredible support over the past two seasons,” Daley said in his message. “The experiences I have had here will last a lifetime. Those I consider family have grown considerably and I will always cherish those relationships. This rehab has given me time to pray and think about my future.”
Daley, who finished the 2025 season with multiple All-American honors and a semifinalist nomination for the Chuck Bednarik Award, will enter the portal with two years of eligibility remaining in his college career.
The redshirt sophomore led all Utah players with 11.5 sacks along with 17.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and 48 total tackles this season.
The Alpine native suffered a season-ending leg injury late in the season. Before announcing his decision to enter the transfer portal, Daley spoke to X to provide an update on his injury status.
“I’ve heard this everywhere,” Daley said in a response. “I won’t be absent next season. I’ll be back in 6 months.”
Daley said he expects to be “perfectly healthy by spring 2026.”
Michigan could be a potential destination for Daley with Kyle Whittingham leaving the state for Ann Arbor.
