Earlier this year, the 20 best male and female players sent a letter to the four Grand Slam to request a larger share of the income generated by the main tournaments.
“The United States Open has made a deliberate and concerted effort to guarantee two-digit percentage increases compared to 2024 in all cycles of all events for all players, while considerably increasing the price percentage for athletes playing deeply in single prints,” said a press release,, external tournament organizers.
The money pot offered in male and female at the US Open this year will be $ 4.78 million (3.6 million pounds sterling) – an increase of 23% compared to 2024.
The tournament said that “for the first time” the winners of the male double, female double and mixed doubles would receive $ 1 million (£ 749,000) at a team price.
The US Open will also provide $ 5 million (3.7 million pounds sterling) to support costs, including travel and expenses, for main print players, while the money price for male and female qualification tournaments will increase from $ 10% to 8 million dollars (6 million pounds sterling).
US Open 2025 in Flushing Meadows takes place from August 24 to September 7.
