US Open: Sinner erases Bublik to install a quarter-Italian quarter-final with Musetti | Jannik sinner

Jannik Sinner won his fastest victory in the Grand Colem with a brutal destruction of Alexander Bublik in the fourth round of the US Open.

The n ° 1 of the world had seemed a little vulnerable to the previous round, when he dropped his first set of the tournament in Denis Shapovalov, but he only needed an hour and 21 minutes to rush to a 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 victory against Bublik.

The unpredictable kazakh is the only player other than Carlos Alcaraz to have beaten the sinner in the last 12 months, which did it on the Halle grass. In his pre -match interview, Bublik said that his goal was not to lose his first service game, but he did exactly that and did not help with 13 double faults – one with two armpits in the first set – while he has abandoned seven times. There were also far too many errors at the Bublik soil scale, which at least increased its level in the third set only for Sinner to answer with interest.

BUBLIK could do nothing other than smile at some of the winners of the reigning champion, although fans who had paid hundreds of dollars for a ticket may not have seemed so grateful.

The sinner cited the long battle of Bublik with Tommy Paul in the previous round in attenuation, saying: “He had a very difficult match the last match. He did not serve as well as usual. I am very happy. The first time this year, I can play the night match here and that makes so much difference.”

Sinner’s winning race at the Grand Chelem du Hard -Court is now 25 games – only two short of Novak Djokovic – and he will face Lorenzo Musetti in the last eight of the first quarter -I -Italian male quarter in a Grand Slam.

“It’s great to see,” said the seeded. “Italian tennis is in great shape now. Lorenzo may be one of the greatest talents we have in our sport. From an Italian point of view, it’s great to have an Italian player in the semi-finals. ”

The tenth seeded Musetti has its best race for Flushing Meadows and was almost as dominant as the sinner, beating Jaume Munar 6-3, 6-0, 6-1.

Alex de Minaur hopes that he will finally be able to unravel the barrier in the quarter-final of the Grand Chelem after having set up a last confrontation with Felix Auger-Aliassime earlier during the day. The Australian takes place in turn for the fifth time in his last seven major tournaments and the sixth time in the general classification, but he has never been further.

In the other male quarter -finals, Novak Djokovic will hope that Taylor Fritz, while the 2022 champion, Carlos Alcaraz, plays Jiri Lehecka from the Czech Republic.
