Shooting by the Royal Palace: 2 killed in car shots in the parking lot in Fremont, the police said

Fremont, California (KGO) – Fremont police investigate a fatal shooting by car Friday evening when an unknown suspect opened fire in a parking lot leaving two people killed.

The police responded around 11:12 p.m. to Boulevard Stevenson Boulevard after fire reports, the police said.

This occurred near the banquet room of the Royal Palace.

Police said that a vehicle went to the victims and fired several shots.

A person died on the scene. A second person died in the hospital. Initially, there were third victim reports. But on Saturday, Fremont police said there were only two victims.

An employee of the Royal Palace confirmed to ABC7 News that he had been closed on Saturday because there was no planned function and not because of the shooting.

On Saturday evening, the UNDRWRLD car club met in the Globe Mall Plaza in Fremont where car lovers show their cars.

More: 2 killed, multiple injured in separate shootings overnight in Oakland, the police said

“Every Friday or Saturday, we organize events here and they are generally very safe. We get around 100 to 200 people,” said Jack Chin, club president.

Chin admits that he was not sure of how many people present themselves because they take place in the same shopping center as the deadly Friday evening shots.

“I think maybe some people were a little afraid to get out. They fear that something can happen,” said Chin.

Meanwhile, there were police activities in block 1400 on Shafter avenue in the evening of San Francisco Satruday. The San Francisco Police Service ordered ABC7 News to contact Fremont police to ask if it was linked to the Friday shooting.

Fremont police have not returned any requests for an interview. But on social networks, this confirmed that it is the third and fourth homicide of the city of this year.

“I do not feel safe. I think of my child. I mean that I left Oakland to live here, in the suburbs. And even here, that does not feel safe,” explains Steven Lee, a Fremont resident who came out in Mall strip for dinner with his wife and son.

Lee grew up in Fremont. He hopes that it is only a punctual shooting and that it does not lead to any kind of climbing in violence.

“Crazy moments. This is out of the ordinary. I have the impression that things must be stifled in the egg so as not to spread. Or do not happen again,” explains Lee.

The city of Fremont and the police service have both published condolences to the families of the victims.

The homicides are the third and fourth of 2025 in Fremont, according to the Fremont police service.

Police said the investigation was underway and asked anyone with information to contact the Fremont police department inquiry at (510) 790-6900. Anonymous advice can be sent by sending SMS “TIP Fremontpd” followed by a message at 888-777 or online.

Publisher’s note: The Fremont police department brought a clarification on Saturday, there is no third victim, but there were two shooting victims who were killed.
