United Has calls the new CEO of Optum

United Hot has appointed Conway the new head of Optum management, the healthcare health care services division.

As of May 6, Conway will replace Heather Cianfrocco, who is promoted to the executive vice-president of governance, compliance and information security in Unitedhealth, the company announced on Tuesday.

Executive changes are intended to help develop a management team “with a range of experiences through its diverse business portfolio and in continuous service to its mission and to the people it serves,” said Unitedhealth in a press release.

Conway has been with Unitedhealth for five years, joining 2020 as CEO of Optum’s Care Solutions activity before being promoted to the CEO of Optum RX in 2023.

Before joining the company based in Minnetonka, Minnesota, Conway had a long career in the public and private sectors of health payments, including a passage to the CMS during the Obama administration.

Optum has been a coherent interpreter for Unitedhealth, even if the company said fluctuating performance in its health insurance division resulting from the increase in medical costs in the past year. However, during the first quarter, the results of the Optum were also lower than analysts’ expectations, despite an increase of 11% from one year to the next to reach $ 3.9 billion.

Optum also fought against the legislative and regulatory control of its main PBM activities and the ramifications of a massive cyber attack last year.

Conway also presents itself as CEO of Optum in times of public concentration on the leaders of Unitedhealth after the murder of the CEO of Unitedhealthcare, Brian Thompson, at the end of last year.
