Uconn fans gather behind Azzi Fudd before the next season under Geno Auriemma

Uconn Azzi Fudd’s Huskies goalkeeper is preparing for a last round in Storrs. Although it was eligible for the draft of the WNBA 2025, the 5 -foot star 11 inches chose to return for her senior season, determined to compensate for her junior year, which she lost because of an LCA injury.
After redshirting that year, Fudd had made his long-awaited return last season and played a key role by helping the team of Geno Auriemma to capture another NCAA championship. Now, eyes on the release of a high note, Fudd and the rest of the Uconn team are back in the gymnasium, preparing for the 2025/26 university basketball season.
On Wednesday, the official UCONN women’s basketball page on Instagram published a video of their training session, offering fans an overview of the team’s pre-season. As expected, the position sparked a wave of fans reactions, many of which are already excited for the coming season.
Much of the comments, however, concerned Azzi Fudd. The fans flooded the support for the senior goalkeeper, with a lot of rally behind her like the team’s face.
“Let all the children know that it’s Azzi’s team this year! It is in turn,” said a fan.
“The way Azzi has removed the opponents of the dribble and the score. The more her deadly sweater. She will be a nightmare next season,” said another fan.
“Azzi Healthy Season,” added a fan.
According to the tone of the comments, it is clear that confidence is high, several fans already predicting that the Huskies will defend their title NCAA this season.
“Ohh so the loading of back to back natties,” wrote a fan.
“I feel another Natty load,” said another fan.
“Ahhhhh Back 2 back Huskiess,” said a fan.

Aside from Fudd’s return, coach Geno Auriemma did an impressive job by keeping the heart of the championship team last season intact. Nine other players on this title list of the title are back, joined by two additions to the transfer portal and three first -year students.
With only four departures, the Huskies now have a list of 15 players before the 2025/26 season, their biggest team since the 2000/01 campaign.
“This is definitely an adjustment”: Azzi Fudd on the adoption of the leadership role in Uconn Squad
With Nika Muhl at the WNBA in 2024 and Paige Bueckers has now left, it seems that the Leadership Uconn torch was officially transmitted to Azzi Fudd.
In a video interview published on the Instagram page of Storrs Central in June, Fudd opened its doors in this role, admitting that it was an adjustment, especially without the strong vocal presence of someone like Muhl and Bueckers on which to rely.
“It is certainly an adjustment, yes,” said Fudd. “Nico was really noisy, so last year when she left, it was already much quieter. But it is definitely an adjustment. As I said, it’s a learning process. I’m going to improve. It will take me a little. I can’t be so hard with myself, but I know it’s something I have to work on.”
Last season, Fudd had a major impact on the field, with an average of 13.6 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game, figures that played a key role in the UCONN championship race. This time, it is more than simply to set up statistics.
As a senior and team leader, she will have to intensify not only with her game, but with her voice, something that could be just as important if the Huskies hope to repeat the success of last season.
