After a deflating loss to highly ranked Gonzaga last Saturday, a game in which UCLA led quite deep into the second half, the UCLA men’s basketball team returns to the court Wednesday night when the Bruins host former Pac-12 Conference foe Arizona State at Pauley Pavilion (7:30 p.m. PST; FS1).

This game is absolutely must-win for the Bruins, both to provide some stability to what has been a rough start to the season and to give the Bruins at least one decent non-conference win before the bulk of the Big Ten Conference schedule begins in January.

Arizona State has been a surprise team this season. The Sun Devils are currently 10-2, with wins over Oklahoma and Texas and two relatively close losses to USC and the aforementioned Gonzaga. Head coach Bobby Hurley is in his 11th season in Tempe and this team, much like his last few teams, is made up of transfers that Hurley is trying to plug. Unlike recent seasons, this team is playing well. They are fueled by what has proven to be a good transfer point guard in senior transfer from Pepperdine. Moe Odum (6’2″) and a team that shot well, hit the boards and limited its turnovers.
