Uber Eats is preparing to deliver your sky dinner. The company has announced that it is associated with Flytrex, a drone delivery startup, to start deploying test markets in the United States by the end of this year.

Although Uber has not yet named the first cities, Flytrex is already active in Texas and in North Carolina, it is therefore likely that these areas will see the first flights. This decision marks Uber’s first investment in drone technology and a big step in the growing autonomous delivery industry.

For customers, this could mean receiving meals, snacks or essential elements in a few minutes, instead of waiting half an hour or more. Drone delivery also has the potential to reduce traffic congestion, reduce emissions and reduce costs compared to traditional messaging services.

The capture? Availability will be limited at the start, probably in the suburban test markets where air traffic is easier to manage. But if everything goes well, Uber Eats could extend drone deliveries to more cities in the years to come.
