Two police officers killed in Tremonton, injured assistant

Tremonton, Utah (Kutv) – Two Tremonton police officers were killed and an assistant to the oldest in the box was injured in an active incident on Sunday evening.
Mayor Lyle Homgren confirmed the death of the police, saying that they gave “the ultimate sacrifice”.
“I hear my sincere condolences to the families of the officers who have broken down and I pray for the rapid recovery of the injured deputy. We cry with their loved ones, their colleagues and the whole community that feels this loss so deeply,” said Homgren.
The incident remains active, with a large police presence nearly 700 N 100 E. The details have not yet been confirmed by civil servants.
The resident of Tremonton, Caleb Hyre, said he had heard shots and saw the first stakeholders of Brigham, Logan and Ogden respond to the scene.
“It was a bit scary and intense,” he said. “It’s like the greatest thing I have ever seen in Tremonton.”
He said he was first locked in his house with a firearm, then approached the area in the hope of obtaining information.
“It’s frightening to see this thing happening in this slightly calm little town,” he said.
