Tunisia chooses “The Voice of Hind Rajab” for the best international functionality
Tunisia has appointed Hind Rajab’s voice By Kaouther Ben Hania, his official submission for the best international feature film at the Oscars.
The news was confirmed Thursday by the National Center for Cinema and Image, just two days after its announcement that Hollywood heavy goods vehicles – including Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara – had made the film as executive producers before its world premiere in Venice. Dede Garner and Jeremy Kleiner of the Pitt Plan B production plan also joined the film alongside The area of interest director Jonathan Glazer and Roma Alfonso Cuarón filmmaker. The drama tells the story of the murder of a 6 -year -old Palestinian girl, Hind Rajab, in January 2024.
Rajab, traveling by car with his four cousins and aunt and uncle, was criticized by the Israeli army as they tried to flee the city of Gaza. Ben Hania’s film is based on vocal recordings between the child and the volunteers of the Red Crescent who tried to keep it in game while they organized emergency care.
Israel said he had no troops in the region where Hind and his family had been killed, but surveys on satellite imagery of The Washington Post And Sky News concluded that Israeli tanks were present at the time.
The first list of 15 films will be announced on December 16, 2025, followed by the final list on January 22, 2026. The Academy award ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on March 15, 2026.
