Tunbridge Wells nurse describes the dead “chaotic” night baby

Family documentThe night when a baby died with an unmatched heart disease in a Kent hospital was “quite chaotic,” said a court.
Chief nurse Ronald Carrido testified in an investigation into the death of Tommy Kneebone, seven months old, on January 21, 2023, at Tunbridge Wells hospital in Pembury, Kent.
Carrido told the investigation he called for the consultant assistance “when there was no improvement to Tommy, when he deteriorated.”
The boy’s mother, Shanice Kneebone, previously told Kent and Medway Coroner’s runs to Maidstone that “nobody took his concerns seriously” in the hospital.
At the hearing on Wednesday, his parents also heard the consultant in service that night.
Coupling in tears, Doctor Chhaya Patankar told the investigation when she entered her room at 7:00 pm GMT, Tommy watched her with “such brilliant and beautiful eyes”.
Family documentThe pediatric consultant said that she had examined Tommy, listened to her heart rate and checked her liver.
He “replied like any baby would,” she said.
Dr. Patankar said the baby had a slight respiratory distress, which “was equivalent to” what he had been told.
“But there was a wider lack of image,” she said.
Tommy’s parents first noticed that he had a cough on their return from vacation abroad in October 2022.
The court had previously heard that Mrs. Kneebone had taken him to a GP and has several times before his death without her underlying cardiomyopathy being identified.
Tommy died at 4:20 am on January 21.
The investigation continues.
