President Donald Trump has called on Congress and other relevant authorities to investigate the causes of his first impeachment.
In an article on Truth Social Sunday, Trump specifically called for California Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff to be investigated and said a number of laws and protocols had been violated regarding his impeachment.
“The Ukraine impeachment scam (on my part!) was a much bigger illegal hoax than Watergate. I sincerely hope the proper authorities, including CONGRESS, investigate this! Adam ‘Schiffty’ Schiff was so dishonest and corrupt. So many laws and protocols were violated and just plain broken!!! President DJT.” Trump said in his message.
It dates back to 2019, when Congress voted to impeach Trump during his first term following a scandal over a Trump phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The House of Representatives passed two articles of impeachment accusing Trump of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Trump has been accused of asking Zelensky to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden in exchange for U.S. military aid.
