Persistent questions about the Epstein case consume the White House and paralyze the congress. Panelists on Washington week with the Atlantic Joined to discuss how a conspiracy theory once has become a spiral controversy.
One of the reasons why Donald Trump has failed to deny or divert attention to Epstein’s investigation is that the case is focused on “what Maga’s base is, what is powerful people who do things behind closed doors,” Eugene Daniels, senior correspondent from Washington to MSNBC, said last night.
The president tends to speak at his base of “how the modest man and woman lose against these interests in Washington”, continued Daniels. “But now they see Donald Trump who seems to be one of the people who defense and the protection of powerful people” and “that’s why I think he can’t shake him.”
Join the Atlantic Franklin Foer staff editor to discuss it and more: Peter Baker, the main correspondent of the White House The New York Times; Eugene Daniels, co-host of Weekend in MSNBC; Susan Glasser, editor The New Yorker; and Jonathan Karl, the chief correspondent of Washington to ABC News.
