Trump says he doesn’t plan to run for the third term

US President Donald Trump denied that he is planning to present himself for a third presidential term, a decision that experts are suitable is prohibited under the American Constitution.
“I will be an eight -year -old president, I will be a president with two mandates. I always thought it was very important,” Trump told NBC Meet The Press with Kristen Welker in an interview broadcast on Sunday.
Trump, 78, previously said that he “did not joke” about wanting to serve a third, even the fourth term as American president.
He then declared that his statements were intended to troll the “false media of information”.
His company, the Trump organization, sold hats “Trump 2028”, fueling the chair speculation that he could seek to stay in office after the end of his second term in January 2029.
In the interview, recorded of his residence in Florida on Friday, said that he had had many “requests” of people asking that he was planning to seek to stay in office.
“So many people want me to do it,” said Trump, just a few days after celebrating his first 100 days of his second term.
“This is something that, to my knowledge, you are not allowed to do. I do not know if it is constitutional that they do not allow you to do it or anything else,” said Trump.
He added that “there are many people who sell the 2028 hat”.
“But this is not something I seek to do,” he said, reading several Republicans who could take his place, including vice-president JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
The 22nd amendment of the Constitution indicates that “no one will be elected to the president’s office more than twice”.
The modification of the constitution would require two -thirds approval of the Senate and the House of Representatives, as well as the approval of three -quarters of governments at the level of the country’s state.
However, some Trump supporters suggest that there is an escape in the Constitution, which has not been tested in court.
Questioned by NBC if someone approached it with these theories, Trump has deviated, answering this “in order to be a great supporter, many people have said different things”.
“Transition period” rate
During the interview, Trump also rejected criticism of his management of the economy.
“Listen, yeah. Everything is fine,” he said after his pricing plan is rallied international economies, which led the American economy to shrink for the first time since 2022.
“I said, it’s a transition period. I think we are going to do in a fantastic way,” he added.
When asked if the American economy could continue to shrink, he replied: “Everything can happen. But I think we are going to have the greatest economy in the history of our country.”
He later added that there is a chance that the prices are permanent, saying to the interviewer: “If someone thought they were going to get out of the table, why build themselves in the United States?”
Trump also denied that Americans will have to prepare to see fewer goods for sale in stores, while the trade war continues.
“No, I’m not saying that. I just say they don’t need to have 30 dolls. They can have three,” he said.
“They don’t need to have 250 pencils. They can have five.”
Questions his role of regular procedure
Trump was asked about the law of the fifth amendment to a regular procedure under the law, which guarantees certain rights to the accused of having committed a crime.
Critics said that his expulsion plan had violated this process and that his administration had removed people who have not yet been accused of crime and therefore had no possibility of presenting legal defense.
“You don’t need to maintain the United States constitution as president?” asked Welker.
Trump replied: “I don’t know. I’m not, I’m not a lawyer. I don’t know.”
Trump does not see the army using Canada
Trump said he could not “exclude” the use of military force to annex Greenland, but suggested that he does not envisage a military attack on Canada to force the neighbor of the North American to become the 51st American state.
“I don’t see him with Canada,” said Trump, a few days after Canadian voters chose Liberal Party Mark Carney as Prime Minister in an amazing rejection of the Conservative Party.
“They think we’re going to protect them, and really we are,” said Trump.
“But the truth is that they do not carry their full part, and it is unfair to the United States and our taxpayers.”
Carney is expected to visit Trump in the White House on Tuesday.
Defends the immigration emergency declaration
Trump was also asked about his decision to declare an immigration emergency during his first day in power, and if the border is now “safe”.
“We have the safest border we have ever had,” he said, bringing Welker to wonder why the emergency declaration remains in place, after immigration figures have shown that illegal passages have dropped to the lowest levels for decades.
He said the urgency was in the justice system, not on the border.
“The great emergency right now is that we have thousands of people we want to withdraw, and we have judges who want everyone to go to court,” he said.
“This is a global emergency on immigration,” Trump told NBC, adding that he did not intend to raise order in the near future.
