Trump raising sanctions against Syria – Redstate

Tuesday, during his official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, President Donald Trump made a fairly surprising announcement: which he would raise sanctions against Syria, long recognized as a state sponsor of Islamic terrorism – but who saw his long -term dictator, Bashar al -Assad, overthrown last December, and a new provisional government in place.
This may be the reason for the decision, but the president did not specify.
President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that the United States would raise sanctions against Syria.
The president made this announcement during his visit to Saudi Arabia. “I will order the cessation of sanctions against Syria in order to give them a chance of greatness,” Trump told the public, who broke out with applause.

The president said:
Among other things, people who are friends and other people whose I have a lot of respect in the Middle East, I will order the cessation of sanctions against Syria, in order to give them a chance of greatness.
He’s a hell of a carrot president, Trump, Trump, puts Syria.
It is also a rather curious decision. Syria is no longer under the Ba’athist al-Assad regime, but the newly seated government under president Ahmed Al-Sharaa and the “Guardian” government that preceded it I have not been exactly photos of sweetness and light either. Several key personalities of the new government have linked to Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State, and there are still attacks on Islamic militias on ethnic and religious minorities within Syria.

Secretary of state Rubio calls for “credible sectarian governance” in Syria – what is the probability?
In March, during the fighting between the Loyalists Pro-Assad and the provisional government forces, more than 1,000 fighters and up to 745 non-combatants were killed. The current transitional government was seated on March 29, replacing the “guardian” government. The United Kingdom preceded the United States in the lifting of sanctions, which did it in April. The British Minister of the Middle East made, at the time, an announcement that looks very much like that of President Trump:
The Minister of the Middle East, Hamish Falconer, said: “The Syrian people deserves the opportunity to rebuild their country and their economy, and a stable in Syria is in the national interest of the United Kingdom.”
A stable Syria would be in the best interest of everyone. And the lifting of sanctions, allowing Syria to return to the dominant current of nations, can help this. But all of the sanctions must be made with caution and with conditions in place: more massacres of minorities, more support or accounting of Islamic terrorists, and more “lifelong presidents”. It is not at all clear if Syria is ready to enter the modern world, but President Trump and the United Kingdom seem ready to let them have their chance.
The next months or years will tell us if it works or not. There is a lot of cause of skepticism; This part of the world is not exactly a bastion of freedom, tolerance and the peaceful government.
