Since at least 1998, Keri Russell has been known for her jaw-dropping hair performances, and she continues to do her best.
The Golden Globe winner teased a “really fun little moment” for her hair in Season 3 of The diplomatnow available to stream on Netflix, championing its main character Kate Wyler’s “pragmatic” style choices in the series.
“First of all, I think she looks great,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I don’t understand when people say, ‘She’s a mess.’ I’m like, ‘I think she looks amazing.’ I like the way she dresses, I think she’s quite practical, she just wants to do her job. And I love her hair, it’s supposed to be just natural and not too thought out, not too styled.
Russell added: “People are commenting on it, and this season we’re having a really fun little time with it. I love the way this character looks.”
Since the Debora Cahn-created series debuted on Netflix in 2023, Kate’s unkempt hair has served as a visual representation of her struggle against the pomp and circumstance of her post in the United Kingdom, as she worked to get to the bottom of a terrorist attack with global implications.

Hairstyles aside, when it comes to The diplomatIn her writing, Russell previously told Deadline that it was the messiness that she loved about Cahn’s work.
“What’s so great [about what] Deborah writes that it’s the act of messing up or constantly messing something up or making a mistake and having to clean it up or having to admit it or having to show up and improve it. That’s life…That’s where growth happens,” Russell said. “Those are the important things when you look back. I just like awkward situations. I’m embarrassed all day. So I enjoy watching someone do something stupid.
