Trump lawyers confirm the settlement talks with more than 60 minutes

Lawyers representing President Trump in his $ 20 billion trial against the CBS about the allegedly deceptive modification of a “60 -minute” segment asked for an extension of deadlines, citing the fact that the parties “are engaged in active settlement discussions”.
Several media including Variety have reported that Trump and Paramount have embarked on current settlement talks. Friday, in a Federal Court of Texas’ file, Trump lawyers and the representative of the Co -Plaignant Ronny Jackson of Texas – as well as lawyers from Paramount Global – declared that they requested an extension to the deadlines of the Court “because the parties are engaged in active settlement discussions, including continuous mediation”.
“The parties do not seek to extend the deadlines for pending queries, and defendants intend to submit their response no later than June 23, 2025,” said the file.
Media reports said Paramount is ready to pay millions of dollars to settle Trump’s pursuit. The Conglomerate of the Media, which requires FCC signaling signs on its agreement to merge with Skydance Media, offered $ 15 million to settle the prosecution, but this figure was rejected by Trump, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal. Trump lawyers want at least 25 million dollars – and they want “60 minutes” to apologize to the president, according to the review of the journal. In addition, Trump lawyers “threatened another trial” against CBS for its media coverage among the settlement talks, according to the WSJ report.
Trump brought a legal action against CBS a few days before the 2024 presidential election, alleging that an “60 -minute” interview with Kamala Harris of the time, Kamala Harris violated a law on Texas Consumer Protection by deceiving voters and causing Trump’s personal financial damage. His costume initially requested $ 10 billion in damages. In February, the president changed the complaint to request at least $ 20 billion. We do not know how these figures were calculated.
Last month, US Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and Ron Wyden sent a letter to Shari Redstone, the controlling shareholder of Paramount, warning him that Paramount financial regulations with the president would be equivalent to an illegal bridge pot.
In the request of Paramount in March 2025 to reject the pursuit of Trump, the company qualified legal action “an affront to the first amendment” which is “without basis in law or in fact”. CBS News argued that the broadcasting and promotion “60 minutes” of Harris’ interview were “unsuccessful or misleading”.
In a file of May 28 which opposed Paramount’s request to reject the trial, Trump lawyers said that the “60 -minute” edition of Harris’ interview “led to generalized confusion and the mental anxiety of consumers”, including Trump. The “conduct of CBS, including the distortion of the news, has constituted a commercial discourse which cannot by any reasonable interpretation for having constituted an editorial judgment and that the discourse damaged the applicants,” said the file. “The fact that such a commercial discourse was delivered by a press organization does not assume the defendants of responsibility under the first amendment.”
