This is not President Trump’s first rodeo with Antifa. While the American cities were burning during the mainly peaceful and totally covid demonstrations of the summer of 2020, it was obvious that someone called the gunshots. What does President Trump’s declaration mean?
The federal government has no provision to appoint a national organization a terrorist group; Rather, he recognizes terrorist acts. This is how it bursts.

There is no legal provision for a terrorist organization based on the country. Article 2331 (5) (a) of title 18 defines “inner terrorism” as criminal acts which take place with the United States which seem intentional to intimidate or constrain a civilian population; 2) influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or 3) Allow the conduct of a government by massive destruction, assassination or kidnapping.
I think that in this stage, it is more logical to see this as a directive of the president to the Attorney General to repress himself with Antifa.
Objections
The New York Times led an excellent factual overview, although strongly inclined, of the order of President Trump: can Trump really designate an antifa a terrorist group? Here are the facts.
The main objection, apart from being an action by President Trump, is that Antifa is not an organization; It is a philosophy.
Antifa is a label for a political subculture or a style of protest. The phenomenon does not have a leader, an initiation process, membership jets, a head office, a bank account or a centralized structure.
Cynthia Miller-Idriss, professor of American university who studies domestic extremism, said that Antifa was an idea that could mobilize people. “There can be small groups organized around Antifa in a district or a community that meet and share this position, but it would be very difficult to see this as linked to an organizational form that could be tackled,” she said, adding: “There is no expert of which I have ever heard who identified Antifa as a real organization.”

Can it work?
