The Trump administration on Saturday evening ordered states to “immediately reverse” all actions they have taken to provide benefits to low-income families through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
“To the extent that states submitted full SNAP payment files for November 2025, this was not authorized. Accordingly, states should immediately reverse all actions taken to provide full SNAP benefits for November 2025,” the U.S. Department of Agriculture said. said in a press release. “Please inform the appropriate FNS regional office representative of steps taken to correct any action taken that is not consistent with this memorandum.”
The directive follows an administrative stay granted by the United States Supreme Court late Friday temporarily blocking a lower court order that ordered the Trump administration to pay SNAP benefits in full for November.

The high court said its order would remain in effect until the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit acts on the administration’s request for a stay before that court.
