Trump, 79, declares absurd threat to national security in late-night meltdown

Donald Trump accused the New York Times of being a threat to national security in an unbalanced Truth Social article.

“The failing New York Times, its lies and willful misrepresentations pose a serious threat to our nation’s national security,” Trump wrote in a late-night social media meltdown.

“Their unbalanced radical left behavior of incessantly writing false articles and opinions must be addressed and stopped. THEY ARE A TRUE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE! Thank you for your attention to this issue. PRESIDENT DJT.”

It’s unclear what motivated Trump’s latest attack on the newspaper he has long derided as “fake news.”

However, the president and the White House were triggered for days following a November Times article revealing that the 79-year-old president had significantly reduced his public appearances compared to his first term.

Trump, who is on track to become the oldest U.S. president ever, also starts his days later on average and works fewer hours than during his first term in the White House, the Times reported.

Last week, the newspaper also published a detailed report examining Trump’s friendship with the late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, describing how the two “pursued women in a game of ego and domination” in which “female bodies were a bargaining chip.”

In one particularly damaging section, a mother who accompanied her 14-year-old daughter to a party at Mar-a-Lago with other young models claimed to have been warned by Trump’s then-wife, Marla Maples: “Whatever you do, don’t let her be around any of these men, especially my husband.” Maples denied making the remark to the Times.

Trump also took aim at the Times during a news conference Monday, accusing the paper of not giving enough coverage to his plan to lower prescription drug prices.

The president denounced the outlet while continuing to make dubious claims that it would have reduced the cost of prescription drugs by a mathematically impossible amount, as much as “3,000 percent.”

“A drug that sells for $10 in London costs $130 in New York. We’re bringing it down to $20,” Trump said. “So we’re down – you can do your own math, but it’s 2,000 percent, 3,000 percent. It’s pretty astonishing. And, you know, the New York Times ran an article about it, a little story, at the back of the paper. It’s probably the most important thing that’s happened on drugs in 50 years.

“It’s the most important thing that’s ever happened, and it’s barely covered in the New York Times because it’s a fake newspaper,” Trump added.

The Daily Beast has contacted The New York Times for comment.
