Trinbago Knight Riders announces the appointment of a new head coach for CPL 2025

In a significant development before the 13th edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL),, Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) made a very publicized change in their leadership structure. With the 2025 CPL which should start on August 14, the four champions appointed a new head coach to guide them to the future.

The franchise confirmed the appointment of the former star of the Antilles Allrounder Dwayne Bravo like their new head coach for CPL 2025. He enters the place of Phil Simmonswho took control of coaching tasks for the Bangladesh Male national team. Bravo’s appointment signals a new era for TKR, while going from his career as a stellar player to a full -time coach role.

Bravo said, expressing his enthusiasm about the role, in an official statement.

A decorated career and a coach pedigree to save him
Bravo’s references as a faithful T20 are indisputable. During 11 CPL seasons, he appeared in 107 games and put 129 bags in a bag, now a saving of 8.74. He spent nine seasons with TKR and was one of five winning campaigns of the CPL, including a winning passage from the title with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in 2021.
Since he hung up his boots in the franchise cricket, Bravo has remained closely involved in the game. He was appointed head coach Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20 and served as a mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2025 season. Earlier, he worked as a bowlingal consultant for Chennai Super Kings in 2023 and 2024. More recently, he was one of the staff of Afghanistan coaches as a bowlingal consultant at the 2024 Male T20 World Cup ICCWhere the team made a historic semi-final.
TKR had a mixed campaign in 2024, finishing third in the league before losing in the eliminator against the royals of Barbados. With the new coaching structure in place and the familiarity of Bravo with the TKR ecosystem, expectations are high for a strong rebound this season.
