The authorities have published the results of the autopsy carried out on Demartravion “Trey” Reed.

Reed, 21, was found dead suspended from a tree on the Delta State University campus in Cleveland, Miss., Monday, September 15. The young man was a student at school.

The Cleveland police service announced in a press release on Thursday, September 18, that the autopsy determined that Reed had died by suicide.

Police said the results of the Mississippi state -ower autopsy are “in accordance with the initial investigation, determining the cause of death and the manner of death”.

“Our thoughts and prayers remain with the family and friends of Reed during this very difficult period,” said Cleveland police chief Tribble, in a statement. “We want to encourage anyone who is struggling to seek help.”

“My condolences go to the Trey Reed family and to all those who knew and loved him,” said Mississippi Department of Public Safety Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell in a statement. “I also applaud the rapid work of the Cleveland police service, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Delta State University to close his family, and I condemn the rumors that circulate concerning his death.”

The final toxicology results can take two to four weeks to be completed, police said.

Police and lawyers for the Reed family did not immediately respond to the requests for people’s comments.

Delta’s state public security director Mike Peeler said that there was no evidence of unfair play in the death of Reed.

The Bolivar County Coroner Office previously declared in a statement that Reed “had not undergone any laceration, bruises, compound fractures, broken bones or injuries in accordance with attack,” said Ledger.

“At present, there is no evidence suggesting that the individual was physically attacked before his death,” they added.

Concerns have been raised regarding the treatment of this case. The family challenged the results of the autopsy, and “Know Your Rights Your Rights Camp Autopsy” by Colin Kaepernick will cover the cost of the announcement, the autopsy, according to the lawyer Ben Crump, who represents the family.

Vanessa J. Jones, another lawyer representing the family of Reed, said that the Sheriff department of the county of Grenada “informed the family that Trey had been found dead in her dormitory, in her bed,” according to the Mississippi Free Press.

Reed’s grandfather JB Reed said the commentary was made by a member of the Bolivar County Sheriff, according to affiliate Abc Wapt. He added that the civil servant with whom he had spoken “did not even say possible suicide, he said suicide”.

“The family does not know exactly what happened on September 15, 2025,” said Jones, according to the point of sale. “We are looking for answers.”

Asked about the gap in the place where Reed’s body was found at a press conference on Wednesday, September 17, Peeler said that he had no knowledge of the calls that Reed’s grandfather had received.

In a statement obtained by people, Crump said that Reed was “full of promises and warmth, deeply loved and respected by all those who knew him”.

“His family and the campus community deserve a complete and independent investigation to discover the truth about what happened,” said Crump. “We cannot accept waves conclusions when so many questions remain.”

“I am with this family, and I will lead a team of civil rights leaders and organizations to continue transparency and responses to Trey’s family,” he added, calling for an “in-depth and transparent investigation” on the death of Reed.
