Trent Alexander-Arnold is now a rival and has tarnished his legacy of Liverpool, says Jamie Carragher

Jamie Carragher thinks that Trent Alexander-Arnold has chosen to be a Liverpool rival after announcing that he would leave Anfield at the end of the season.
Alexander-Arnold confirmed what was widely awaited this morning, that he will leave the club at the end of his contract in June, with Real Madrid his most likely destination while he is trying to take the next stage of his career.
Liverpool fans reacted negatively to his decision with Carragher summarizing the feelings of many by predicting that the 26 -year -old will receive a hostile reception if he returns to Merseyside with Madrid.
Writing in the Telegraph, the former defender of Liverpool said: “I love to see a boy born in Liverpool to do so well that he will play for Real Madrid.
“A part of me thinks” well done “, but the competitive element in me also thinks that the exchange of Liverpool Red for Real Madrid White means that he has chosen to become a rival.
“This means that the next time he was in Anfield, he will receive the same treatment as Luis Suarez on his return to Merseyside in a Barcelona shirt.
“With the declaration of Monday, the unconditional support that Alexander-Arnold appreciated Kop when he was fully attached to Liverpool.”
After 20 years at the Liverpool Football Club, it’s time for me to confirm that I will leave at the end of the season.
It is easily the most difficult decision that I have ever taken with my life.
I know that many of you wondered why or have been frustrated not to have talked about this … pic.twitter.com/emaw5rvxq0

Trent’s inheritance now tarnished, says Carragher
Alexander-Arnold helped Liverpool with two Premier League crowns and success in the Champions League after joining the club as a six-year-old boy.
But Carragher feels that his heritage will now be tarnished in the eyes of many fans of Reds.
He added: “What is won in the short term can be sacrificed in terms of inheritance once a career is over, and although it may look like a cliché to say that you are part of a family” once you are loved by fans of the biggest and lightest clubs, it’s true.
“There are many examples of truly formidable players who have given stellar service wherever they went but no longer feel emotionally attached to anyone. It’s not necessarily fair or just.
“This is like that, because the supporters will make the difference between those who put the current club in the current fight to face the superpower of Real Madrid, and those who have been accused of thinking of their own career.”
Don’t tell Liverpool fans how to think
Numerous non-cleverpool fans remain surprised by the levels of anger directed towards Alexander-Arnold, but Carragher says that he understands where the Kopites come from.
He said: “The real ones are one of the only two clubs to have won more European cuts than Liverpool, so when a high -level academy makes this kind of movement, there is a resentment that is simmering from the local fans base that they are trying to separate from their own”, or think that there is something bigger or better for them.
“You can call it unfair, naive or even deceived everything you like. By trying to explain how it is, people jump on me and tell me that it is bad to think that way, and Alexander-Arnold should be well desired in his new adventure.
“Liverpool fans are informed that their reaction to Alexander-Arnold who is emotional is more emotional. My answer to this is which is really naive and deceived when analyzing what fans think such transfers?”
The next Liverpool match in Anfield comes on Sunday when they face Arsenal.
