Tre Johnson’s Bold Prediction From Bleacher Report Just Created Huge Expectations

Tre Johnson enters his rookie season with the Washington Wizards with all eyes on him.
Not only does the Wizards front office have high expectations of him in hopes that he can potentially become a cornerstone in the DMV, but the former Texas star has high expectations for his entry into the league.
It’s clear from the start that confidence is the least of Johnson’s concerns and with his talent, it’s easy to see why the young guard has confidence in himself when he steps on the court.
Not to mention, the point guard’s work ethic alone sets him apart based on early reviews of the work he’s done since arriving in Washington.
Although the bar was already high for Johnson entering year one in Washington, the Wizards tower just saw expectations rise following Bleacher Report’s bold prediction for the guard.
Bleacher Report predicts Johnson will lead rookies in scoring
In a recent article from Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report, each team received a bold prediction before the season.
For Washington, Bailey’s prediction was that Johnson would not only lead the Wizards’ rookie class in scoring, but he would also lead the entire rookie class in scoring.
“He [Johnson] struggled during the preseason (where he averaged just 6.7 points), but more scoring opportunities will open up for Tre Johnson after the Washington Wizards trade CJ McCollum and Khris Middleton (moves that seem almost inevitable),” Bailey said.
Predicting that Johnson will lead the rookie class in scoring indirectly suggests that the Wizards rookie will be more of a scoring threat than other high-profile rookies such as Cooper Flagg, Dylan Harper, VJ Edgecombe and Ace Bailey, who finds himself in a similar rebuilding situation to Johnson.
There’s no doubt that Johnson has the ability to turn Bleacher Report’s bold prediction into reality, but to do so, many things will need to shift in the point guard’s favor for that to happen.
Not only does Bailey’s prediction hinge on Johnson receiving more offensive opportunities thanks to the potential trades of CJ McCollum and Khris Middleton, who has an extremely difficult contract to trade, but the guard will need to stay healthy throughout the season.
Johnson’s preseason struggles are the least of the reasons why Johnson could potentially fall short of that goal and if his success at every other stage of his career suggests anything, it’s that this prediction is very much on the table for the Wizards rookie to make happen.
