Nicki Minaj attacked California Governor Gavin Newsom in a series of X-rated messages on Friday, targeting a quote from the presidential candidate in which he supports trans youth.
During a recent appearance on the Ezra Klein Show, Newsom said, “I want to see trans kids…There’s no governor who has passed more pro-trans legislation than me. No one has been a stronger advocate for the LGBT community.” The quote has been circulating online recently, with some using it to disparage Newsom’s image as a potential presidential candidate.

She added a few minutes later: “Gavin is the cute boy who got everything because he was cute, sexy, hot and smoking. Oohhh look at @’m. Sitting there in that suit with the sneakers. He thinks he’s Tom Cruise, the only difference is his next mission IS impossible. He should have another starring role.” The 12-time Grammy nominee berated Newsom non-stop on X throughout Friday and Saturday, usually accompanying his posts a photo of the Chucky doll from “Child’s Play”.
Although not fully confirmed, many consider Newsom the favorite to become the Democratic presidential nominee in 2028. He recently told CBS Sunday Morning that he has “no idea” whether or not he will run for president.
“The idea that a guy who got a 960 on the SAT, who still struggled to read scripts, who was always at the back of the class, the idea that we could even throw that away is, in and of itself, extraordinary,” he said. “Who the hell knows? I look forward to who will show up in 2028 and who will meet that moment. That’s the question before the American people.”
