Portable power stations are useful in all kinds of situations. Some models are suitable for weekend camping trips while others are perfect for when the power goes out at home. But what happens if you use a portable power station in very cold weather? Not all stations will be able to operate or charge at low temperatures. Bluetti, however, has a new solution and it already has a significant discount.
As of October 21, the Bluetti Pioneer Na(Sodium) Portable Power Station is on sale for $799, down from the list price of $1,299. This is a 38% discount that reduces the list price by $500. Since Bluetti only launched this model in October, this is an early discount on the new power plant.
Bluetti is the first company to launch a consumer portable power station using sodium-ion battery cells, debuting at this year’s IFA in Germany. You’re probably wondering why use sodium-ion when we have truly amazing LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) batteries in most portable power stations. Well, these have serious temperature limitations and they won’t work or charge at very low temperatures. The sodium ion, however, is cold with cold.

The Bluetti Pioneer Na can safely charge in temperatures as low as 5 degrees Fahrenheit and operate down to -13 degrees. This will be ideal if your portable power station experiences low temperatures in winter. Bluetti says it’s a must-have for ice fishing or snow camping.
It comes with 1,500 Wh of power. In real-world scenarios, this equates to about 44 hours of power for a WiFi router and about 50 hours for a 10-watt LED light. If the Bluetti Pioneer Na goes on an ice fishing trip, it will be able to charge a satellite phone about 29 times or keep a 20 watt light on for almost 29 hours.
Mashable Offers
Bluetti mentions that this model can return to 80% charge in just 45 minutes when used on mains power. You can also use up to 500W of solar power for fully remote charging. It will be fully charged in about 2.5 hours when connected to 500W solar panels.
If your winters involve working outside in the cold, ice fishing, or ice camping, the Bluetti Pioneer Na is an ideal portable power station. Freshly launched, it’s already on sale for just $799, which means it’s a great time to pick up this new model. Freezing temperatures could be a few weeks away.
