Tom Hanks went unnoticed this week while riding the subway in New York.
The “Saving Private Ryan” actor wore a mask, goggles and beanie as he sat quietly on the 6 train on Tuesday, according to the New York Post.
It was unclear whether any of the other drivers in the car recognized the two-time Oscar winner, but he appeared to have been left alone during the ride.
Earlier this month, Hanks told Jimmy Kimmel — while the host’s show was in Brooklyn — how much he loved riding the subway in New York.

“I think the New York subway is a miracle,” he told Kimmel. “That displaces 7 million people.”
Hanks, 69, said he first moved to New York when he was 22, living in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan.

He said he found a driver after landing his first Broadway show.
“And on morning days – Manhattan is crowded – it’s really, really crowded. And it can take so long to drive there that I would get off at Columbus Circle and say, ‘I’ll just walk, don’t worry about it.'”

In 2013, while starring in the Broadway show “Lucky Guy,” Hanks told New York Magazine why he loved the subway.

“No one looks at anyone on the subway,” he told the outlet. “Every once in a while, someone might give you a nudge and you nod. But the city is beautiful in terms of that easy anonymity. You just roll with it.”

Hanks isn’t the only celebrity to take the subway in this crowded, hard-to-find city.
