Tom Cruise is known for his suffering for his art, but how revealed in a bonus functionality as part of the digital version of “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning”. The A-List actor and his director, Christopher Mcquarrie, reveal during the culminating plane sequence of the film that the joints of the Cruise fingers separated from the pure force that the actor had to fight while swinging the side of a biplane and holding the strap of a seat belt.
“Oh, it almost broke my back,” said Cruise in the comment while the scene takes place (via Entertainment Weekly) as Mcquarrie adds: “You talk about a lot of pain here.”
“Now look at this: what we have not talked about, holding this belt,” said Mcquarrie while Cruise is seen in the film holding a seat belt strap while the biplane returns upside down. Cruise notes: “Oh my God was brutal.”
“It separated the joints from Tom’s fingers from the strength, so when we finished this sequence, your hands were absolutely swollen – oh my god, it was so painful to look at,” added Mcquarrie.
“Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” opened its doors in theaters in May after a first splashing at the Cannes Film Festival. The film, presented Cruise’s last release in its longtime action franchise, opened its doors to 200 million dollars in the world, marking the largest departure of the franchise.
