Tom Brady did not want raiders to sign Sam Darnold in free agency

Before the offseason, it was largely reported that the owner of the minority and seven times superb champion, Tom Brady, would have an important contribution in search of the raiders of Las Vegas of a new quarter.

As expected, that’s exactly what happened.

The Raiders, who won only four games last season with Gardner Minshew II, Aidan O’Connell and Desmond Ridder starting under the center, were the favorites to land one of the best names that should be available. Many expected the organization to take place in Sam Darnold, the best quarter-arre that should strike the free agency after a year of resurgence with the Vikings du Minnesota.

However, Brady was not a fan. Athletic Michael Silver reported on Thursday that Brady did not want raiders to invest in Darnold.

“While some believe that Las Vegas raiders would try to sign Darnold, the owner of the minority Tom Brady – a quarter -Arrière winner of the Super Bowl, whose opinion, was useful – was not favorable to this approach, according to a familiar source with internal discussions of the franchise,” Silver wrote.

Instead, the raiders have chosen to trade against the Seattle Seahawks quarterrier, Geno Smith, bringing a more experienced veteran to run the offensive group which is now made up of Brock Bowers Star and Ballon Ashton Jeanty, choice n ° 6 of the NFL 2025 draft.

Darnold then signed a three -year contract with Seattle worth $ 100.5 million. He seeks to rely on a 2024 season which changed his career during which he launched 4,319 yards and 35 affected, directing the Vikings to a file of 14 to 3.
