Texans GM Non-Committal on RB Joe Mixon playing this season

Houston – The Director General of Texans, Nick Caserio, was not committed to the question of whether the Ballon bearer of the Pro Bowl, Joe Mixon, will play in 2025.

When the Texans reduced their list to 53 players, they placed Mixon on the list of reserve / non-football injuries because he dealt with an ankle injury which put him away throughout the OTA, the Mini-Camp and the training camp. Following the place of the NFI list, Mixon will at least miss the first four games of the season.

Caserio was asked Wednesday morning if Mixon would be suitable for this whole season but did not give clarity to the status of the main rusher of the team last season.

“We will see. We will take it one day at a time,” said Caserio. “We will assess these players after four weeks and see where they are in their progress, then will take a determination.”

The Texans acquired Mixon of the Bengals of Cincinnati in March 2024 in exchange for a choice of seventh round in the draft of the NFL last year. During his first season in Houston, he rushed to 1,016 yards and 11 affected, which earned him the honors of the Pro Bowl.

Mixon led the Texans in the touchdown in the regular season (12) and the playoffs (2). He also managed the team in scrum -in -regular sites in the regular season (1,325) and the playoffs (219). In playoffs, Mixon ran for 194 yards in two playoffs and finished fourth in yards per match (97) after finishing ninth (72.6) during the regular season.

Mixon could potentially return in week 5 when the Texans visit the Ravens of Baltimore.

Nick Chubb, which the Texans signed for an agreement of one year in June after its release from Cleveland’s Browns, could appear in a good place in the precipitated attack of the Texans in the absence of Mixon, with Dameon Pierce (second on the Texans in last season last season), Dare Ogunbowale (played in 17 games for the charge of the first round) and the rookie picky Marks to probably share the precipitation load.
