Damage to power line causes nearly 20,000 people to lose power in Utah County

SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah (KUTV) — Nearly 20,000 customers lost power in Utah County after reports of a damaged line in the area.
According to Rocky Mountain Power, the outage is largely affecting the Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain area. However, the outage also extended to Lehi, American Fork and Lindon.
It is unclear where the power line was located or what caused the damage that led to this widespread outage.
The outage was first reported just before 7:15 a.m. and Rocky Mountain Power estimates full power will be restored by 10:30 a.m. the same day. This estimate could change depending on the extent of the damage and repair time.
The Utah Department of Transportation warned drivers using the road for the morning commute or as part of the Thanksgiving trip that the power outage caused traffic signal issues throughout Utah County.
The Saratoga Springs Police Department posted on social media reminding drivers to treat all intersections as four-way stops, slow down, plan ahead and be courteous to other drivers.
Drivers were asked to expect delays in northern Utah County and to allow extra time into their travels if possible.
