“Armed men or loggers will kill me for anything.” Great! All because they defend their own land. An official trailer is available online for an inspiring documentary film entitled We are guardsaccording to the indigenous forest protectors of Amazon. After playing in film festivals in the past 2 years, this is finally ready to go out in theaters this summer. A poignant representation of the diversified group of indigenous peoples which endeavor to save what remains of the Brazilian Amazon. It dissects economic engines that feed environmental destruction on a large scale, while exposing corruption. These “guards” are likely to repel the loggers and invaders of illegal land. Turned in a style close truth and focused on the characters, the film explores the complex intersections of politics, history, economics and sciences, highlighting the real global implications of deforestation in one of the most vital ecosystems in the world. It’s extremely sad. However, despite the tragedy, the film is trying to be a powerful story of hope and resilience in the midst of an environmental crisis that takes place, because the Tembé and Guajajara people persist in their struggle to preserve their ancestral lands. In the heart of the Brazilian Amazonian forest, thousands of people illegally encroach on protected land, aging devastating trees to export and exploit rare resources in the region. It is a critical problem that has an impact on us all. Enter a Brazilian Aboriginal Forest Guardian Marçal Guajajara and passionate activist Tembé Puyr. Together, they stand like unwavering sentries, fighter tirelessly to protect their relentless march from deforestation. In addition, we meet an illegal lumberjack, trapped in a desperate struggle to reach both ends, without any other means of survival; In addition, a determined land owner, determined to preserve the rich ecosystem in his property, relentlessly seeking the responses of the local authorities, but met with silence. Thanks to this tapestry of perspectives, we see economic ties with the markets that connect derivatives from the Amazon region to consumers around the world.

We are guards is co -edited by filmmakers Edivan GuajajaraCo -founder of Mídia Indígena, the first journalism collective led by Brazil – and the two environmental filmmakers Chelsea Greene And ROB GROBMANAll making their first feature film together. Produced by Maura Anderson, Zak Kilberg and Fisher Stevens. This was first presented at the Film Hot Docs 2023 Film Festival a few years ago, and he also played at Festivals of Raimende & Santa Barbara films.
