Timothee Chalamet helps put a new spin on sports films with the trailer for Marty Supreme.
A24 publishes the feature film by director Josh Safdie in theaters on December 25. Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler Okonma (aka Tyler, the Creator), Abel Ferrara and Fran Drescher complete the casting.
Marty Supreme Focus on Chalamet as a marty mauser, who pursues an ambitious dream that no one else seems to respect. The images present the character of Chalamet in an exciting ping-pong match and also shows him to do his best to explain the attraction of sport.
“I know it’s hard to believe, but I tell you, this game, he fills stadiums abroad,” said Chalamet in the trailer. “And this is just a matter of time before you look at the cover of a box of bates.”
Another moment of the trailer presents Chalamet trying to impress the Glamor character of Paltrow. “I have never spoken to a real movie star,” explains Chalamet. “You know, I am also a sort of an artist.”
Safdie directed the script film he co-written with Ronald Bronstein. Chalamet, Safdie, Bronstein, Eli Bush and Anthony Katagas serve as producers.
The project brings together Safdie with A24 after the company produced its two most recent films, Good time (2017) and Uncoupled gems (2019), both co-produced with brother Benny Safdie.
This is Chalamet’s first film since last year’s musical biopic A complete unknownWho won the actor an Oscar appointment for his main role as Bob Dylan.
