Timon Kyle Durrett shares his health philosophy

When Beyond the Gates Star, Timon Kyle Durrett, grew on the south side of Chicago, he was not aware of the healthy base that his parents had instilled in their household. But he appreciates it now. “I can now see the advantages of having been made to live such a healthy life. I would say, “Hey, mom, I want a snack. The ice cream truck is outside, where my friends make a candy race. She said, “Oh, these cucumbers should be ready there. I should go and eat cucumbers while my friends eat snickers bars or ice cream horn, “explains Durrett.
“But when you have this state of mind from the start, it is much more beneficial later. Some people only make the problems, and you know, it’s a bit late in the game,” continues Durrett.
“I am very lucky and blessed to have parents who instilled us a healthy life and a good exercise.”
On the reasons why he co-hosted the BHM Harlem Week 2025 Summit & Exo
Durrett does not take it for granted that many people did not have his education. He wants to make sure that others have the tools they need to take care of their bodies. He believes that if we dressed others, they can act.
“There is a lot of toxicity in the air, food and water, sometimes even in the entertainment we learn. Things we hear, we see, we eat and put and in our bodies are toxins, “he said.
“And have a peak of health and show people what it is, if you have a dirty carpet, shoes or a car. It will get dirty from time to time, but you need to know how to clean it, right? Know how to provide things to get out of bad things and bring good things.
He believes that knowledge is power, but the application of this knowledge is the key. “If you have a flat tire and you know how to change a flat tire, it doesn’t matter if you know, unless you apply this knowledge to replace or repair this flat tire.”
He gave an example, with health information, it is not enough to know what to do; It is also a question of how to apply it. “I’m sure there will be information to let people know what to do, or what things are, and how to do it. Or how are things when you’re healthy. And that’s what I want people to move away from this experience: the knowledge they need to start or continue a good health. ”
Durrett roots on the south side of Chicago
“Unless there is school, the routine was to get up, take care of your tasks and go out and play. Enter the earth, the world and do certain things, ”said Durrett.
Durrett, 53, said that he had been taught very early to take care of his inner and outdoor body. His mother was therapist of the colon. Healthy foods were a pillar of their house. “A pack of Twinkies would last a month in our house because we were not allowed to eat junk food,” he notes.
Of course, like any child, he has done it from time to time, but not excessively. “My parents have taught us, earn your money,” said the actor who also played in Queen sugar.
We did not have an allowance, so we have to cut the grass, shove the snow, the Polish shoes, wash the cars and run to the grocery store for our elderly neighbors. But I was just part of the junk of a child. »»
Preparation to excel as a student and actor
Having a healthy life base has served Durrett with regard to the development of sports efforts in Durrett. He played basketball for Alcorn State at university.
“Physiologically, you need good things in your body so that it can work properly. Some of my teammates would eat certain things before a match,” he recalls. “And I would be there while eating oranges and sipping apple cider vinegar and things like that.”
However, Durrett underlines that his healthy lifestyle is crucial in his current role. He embodies the criminal defense lawyer Bill Hamilton, in the new successful diurnal drama of CBS beyond the doors.
“Having a healthy body helps maintain a healthy spirit on day television. There is a lot of mental work. There is a lot of material that we have to learn and keep and transmit to the public every day,” said Durrett.
“So, if you are not in good health, you will not have energy, you will not have endurance, including your clarity of mind,” he continued. “It will not be there that it should be to do tasks at hand. It is therefore very important to have a healthy body to have a healthy mind. ”
Man is a real multi-hyphenate, an artist too
If you have not followed Durrett on Instagram, you may want to watch it give life to one of his artistic projects. They are spectacular. (Discover one below.) But when I asked him if he planned to work on a form of personal care, I loved what he had to say,
“It is, it is beyond therapeutics for me. This is my happy place when I get into my area, as I call it, and I am struck with inspiration; I am everything. “
“I receive so much joy in creation when I am in this area, because it is at this moment that good things, you know, all the good nuggets of creativity come out. And yes, you know, it is really good. You know, when your mental, emotional, spiritual and psychological health is all matching, you are in a very good place,” said Durrett.
