Time Magazine publishes new cover of Donald Trump after his criticism

Time The magazine has released a new cover for its upcoming November 10 issue featuring President Donald Trump after the Republican Party leader heavily criticized the original image used.
The landmark publication unveiled the second edition earlier this week, linked to its article on Trump, who was interviewed about his role in brokering the ceasefire agreement between Gaza and Israel. While the first image depicts the POTUS looking upward, framed against the sky with the caption “His Triumph,” the second depicts Trump with his hands clasped under his chin at the Hayes office with the caption “Trump’s World.”
Unveiled on October 14, Trump took considerable umbrage with the originally chosen cover photo, writing on Truth Social at 1:36 a.m. ET that evening: “Time Magazine did a relatively good story on me, but the photo may be the worst ever. They ‘disappeared’ my hair, then had something floating above my head that looked like a floating crown, but extremely small. Really weird! I never liked taking photos from angles, but it’s a very bad one. image and deserves to be highlighted. What do they do and why?
Trump has had a long-standing relationship with the weekly – both as a subject and a reader. According to the outlet, as of December 2024, Trump’s total number of covers exceeded 40, second only to presidents Ronald Reagan and record holder Richard Nixon. Naturally, that doesn’t include the fake covers allegedly hung in “at least five of his golf clubs,” which featured a cover line exclaiming that “Trump strikes on all fronts…even on TV!” The existence of false covers, reported by the Washington Jobprompted the magazine to ask Trump to remove them. Since then, several real blankets currently hang in various locations throughout his Mar-a-Lago residence. Time also named him Person of the Year in 2016 and 2024.
Before publication of the original cover, the owner of TimeMarc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce, made waves this weekend for his comments on The New York Times in which he said he thought Trump was doing a “great job” and that he “fully” supported the idea of sending federal troops to San Francisco.
According to a report from The daily beastWashington-based photographer Stephen Voss’s new photo of Trump is inspired by Arnold Newman’s 1963 photograph of German industrialist and convicted Nazi war criminal Alfried Krupp, published by News weekHowever Time vehemently denied. (The digital outlet also reported that Voss liked comments on Instagram in which his followers asked him about the connection, although he has since apparently deleted his likes.)
“There is no connection and claims suggesting otherwise are completely false,” he said. Time the spokesperson said. “The references for this photo shoot were past presidential portraits in the Oval Office, including TIME’s own covers. Giving weight to speculation on social media is reckless and contributes to the spread of misinformation.”
