From this week, Costco customers may be refused if they do not come during the designated hours of their memberships.
Washington – The new Costco policy allowing an hour of exclusive shopping for certain members will take full effect this week.
From Monday, September 1, the Gros club will strictly apply its last advantage: give an exclusive shopping window and one in the morning for its more paid members. The policy was announced earlier this summer, but Costco had given a period of grace for the change of policy in July and August.
The application comes into force on the Labor Day, when Costco is closed, buyers will probably see changes from Tuesday, September 2.
The members of the executive will have early access to the store from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. local time during the week and Sunday, and from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Gold Star and the members of the company arriving in Costco during the executive hour run the risk of being repressed by the door greetings.
The change, which is limited to American stores, means that the members of the executive can buy earlier than when most – but not all – of generally open stores. Some Costco locations, including all those in the California bay region, are already open from 9 a.m. Monday to Saturday.
According to the company data, executive members represent 73% of Costco sales despite slightly less than half of their 79.6 million memberships.
This decision aligns Costco with Rival Sam’s Club, which has long offered exclusive shopping hours early in the morning for its Plus members.
As part of the change announced on June 30, Costco said that all American warehouses would now be open an additional hour on Saturday, ending at 7 p.m. for all members.

Last year, Costco increased the price of its memberships for the first time since 2017. The cost of membership in Gold Star, the basic level, increased from $ 60 to $ 65. The members of the executive, the higher level plan, went from $ 120 to $ 130.
