In Krypto: Krypton’s last dog # 1Written by Ryan North with the art of Mike Norton and Ian Herring, Krypto lives his normal life with Jor-el and Lara Lor-Van, ignoring that her owners discuss their last stroke plans to save as many Kryptonians as possible before Krypton undergoes a cataclysmic event. Shortly before the planet meets its tragic end, Krypto shares a comfortable nap with Kal-El.
While Jor-El mentions in Lara, the Kryptonian Science Council does not collaborate with its efforts to prevent a global tragedy. But beyond what is already of public notoriety on the destruction of Krypton, Krypto: Krypton’s last dog reveals a heartbreaking detail on the deaths of the planet.

Krypto: Krypton’s last dog # 1Written by Ryan North; Mike Norton and Ian Herring’s art; Letters from Lucas Gattoni
The first thing that Jor-el and Lara Lor-Van speak in Krypto: Krypton’s last dog # 1 is the imminent natural disaster that Krypton is heading. Given that the Kryptonian Sciences Council seems little likely to cooperate, Jor-El finds himself forced to launch his final plan. Jor-El could not prepare enough prototype vessels to save hundreds of Kryptonians, and there is not enough time to create more. Jor-el considers the possibility of saving only a few hundred people “dark” And “dark,” But also the only option.

They did it: DC just made the destruction of Krypton of Superman even more brutal
Tragically, DC Comics found a way to worsen the destruction of Krypton in the new absolute universe compared to the main chronology of DC.
Of course, Jor-el’s last minute attempt to save the most Kryptonians than possible seems even more tragic in retrospective, because his plan did not work either. Only a handful of kryptonians have survived; Half of them were Jor-El’s family and Lara, and half of them were dangerous criminals. Krypton’s destruction in this version of Superman’s original story must be particularly bittersweet for Jor-El and Lara when they see their only son and their dog escaping from Krypton as the last survivors of the planet.
How Lara & Jor-el prototypes would have changed the DC universe
Superman would probably have more powerful enemies and the allies had more Kryptonians
The failed plan of Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van to build enough rockets to save hundreds of Kryptonians left Krypton’s inheritance on Superman’s shoulders, but it may have been a positive development for the earth. Not only has Kal-El became an altruistic hero who honored Krypton by protecting the earth, but he also pushed several Kryptonian bad guys like Dru-Zod, no, Ursa, Faora Hu-Ul and Doomsday, among other threats with links with his native planet, like Brainiac. If Jor-El’s plan had worked, the earth could have faced hundreds of Kryptonian visitors who are not as pure as Kal-El.

Traditionally, Jor-el and Lara Lor-Van ignore the survival of Kara Zor-El. It is also a stroke of luck for the earth that Kara is as kind as her cousin and chooses to become Supergirl instead of a villain. While the destruction of Krypton is an undeniable tragedy for the native planet of Superman, it has directly led to SupermanSupergirl, and Krypto Save the earth from a long list of bad guys who were more likely to do significant damage to humanity if Kal-El and Kara Zor-El have perished.
